( E-10 ): BUENO, ANTES de yo decir mi parte, que sea HUNTER Y RIKI LEE ( SÍ NOSOTROS 3 ESTUVIMOS AHÍ...BIGTIME ) quienes resuman lo ocurrido el sábado 18 AGOSTO / 12 en el Coliseo Roberto Clemente...Hunter EN ESPAÑOL...y Riki IN ENGLISH for any INTERNATIONAL READER SNOOPING THE BLOG...Take it away.
( HUNTER ): 18 AGOSTO / 2012....Puerto Rico tuvo una doble dosis de metal con el concierto de SOULFLY y FEAR FACTORY. Una banda se robó el show; la otra estuvo mas o menos. Soulfly: La que se robó el show ( en mi opinión ); es la 2da vez que los veo y este nuevo line - up con el mexicano Tony Campos ( EX - STATIC - X ) en el bajo, es el mejor que la banda ha tenido. Soulfly comenzó a tocar como a las 10 de la noche con el tema “World Scum “ ( de su disco "ENSLAVED" ), y símplemente mantuvo al público entretenido por 1 hora y 15 minutos. Max Cavalera complació al publico tocando los clásicos de Sepultura "Refuse / Resist", "Arise" y "Roots Bloody Roots". 
Sin embargo, Fear Factory ( abajo )......no tubo la misma suerte que Soulfly. Se tardaron demasiado en comenzar - casi 45 minutos, porque la banda comenzo a las 12 A.M.....Además de su tardanza, fue notable que el cantante Burton C. Bell no estaba teniendo su mejor noche como vocalista - sonido afónico o gallitos entre medio de canciones aparte….
A esto le podemos sumar que en las primeras dos canciones, Dino Cazares ( guitarra ) parecía estar molesto por algo que aún desconocemos. La banda comenzó con el primer tema del mismo título de su disco “The Industrialist”, y aunque no tocaron mal, no sentí la misma energía que sentí con Soulfly - ESTO APESAR DE UN VARIADO REPERTORIO en el que FF interpretó canciones de varios de sus discos.
Pero lo peor pasó al final de la noche cuando en medio del tema "Zero Signal" el MUNICIPIO DE SAN JUAN decidió hacer una de las suyas: Prender las luces blancas o house lights en media canción, logrando que esto luciera como todo una fiesta patronal....MUY MAL.....y se notó que la banda se fue molesta y con toda la razón ya que aún le faltaban como 2 canciones para terminar.
Así que municipio de San Juan, GRACIAS A USTEDES, ahora sabemos que Fear Factory será debut y despedida. Es más, ese final me recordó cuando iba a Shannan´s Pub, te prendían las luces....y sonaban música mala para que todos se largaran al k4raJø. Me pregunto si esto se lo hubiesen hecho a Ednita Nazario o a Daddy Yankee?....Y PORQUÉ el pasado ABRIL / 2010 a AXL ROSE, quién inicia sus conciertos de G N´R casi a las 12:15 A.M…..NO SE LO HICIERON????….Hmmmm, da mucho que pensar....Bueno, qué rayos, ESTO SOLO OCURRE en el municipio que nos envía POSTALES DE NAVIDAD que muestran ANIMALES MATANDO ANIMALES....WHAT A SHAME...
( RIKI LEE / "S10 // THE L4TEST L3AK" ): Where do I start when it comes to the matter of last night´s concert???....Very much enjoyed the bands altogether, but there are a few things that stood out during the performances throughout the show....
Now let's get into the factors that sucked in this concert besides the long wait…
1.) Little support for the local bands, the sound techs and the constant "technical problems" that were confronted in the beginning before FEAR FACTORY came on stage…
2.) Vocalist Burton C. Bell sounding…well, like he was having a case of what can only be described as VOCAL EXHAUSTION and trust me when I SAY THIS: The only thing that can leave you in the state that Mr. Bell was in, most likely would be the fact that he did a show THE NIGHT BEFORE ( 8 / 17 / 12 at Reverb, Reading, PA, USA ), then jumped on a plane and did the Puerto Rico gig with possibly not much rest ( something which is very unfair to the public....and even worse for the vocalist, Dino ( Cazares ) and the rest of the guys ).
3.) The ending of the show which left us most in a state of "WTF!?!?" That moment being, of course, when the Coliseum personnel TURNED ON THE HOUSE LIGHTS ( we can blame the CITY OF SAN JUAN ) midway through the final song "ZERO SIGNAL" ( UPDATE: VIDEO NOW INCLUDED ), as Burton and crew said goodbye to the crowd and....man, it was pretty obvious the moment left a rather bad taste in everybody´s mouth as they left the stage.
FEAR FACTORY´S ABRUPT EXIT CLIP......
I highly doubt they will want to return and play on this island ever again. Then again, there was the fact that when FEAR FACTORY WAS PERFORMING, there was an ALCOHOL PROHIBITION LAW in effect - due to the AUGUST 19 / 12 ELECTORAL PROCEEDINGS for which Puerto Rico citizens would vote in favor or against an amendment to their PENAL CODE…
That, of course resulted in a FAIL of EPIC PROPORTIONS on behalf of the P. R. GOVERMENT...Now, few problems which plagued that night aside, I do have to give credit where it is due....Burton C. Bell could´ve pulled an AXL ROSE, and just bitch his way mid - performance leaving the entire show hanging, but he stood his ground and went on....so BRAVOOooo….
On an overall evaluation of the evening´s events......I'd say that DEATH ARRANGEMENT and SOULFLY ROCKED THE EVENING AWAY and was an event not to be missed!
( E-10 ): OK.....PRIMERO ( y sin que me quede nada por dentro ), SOULFLY....EL GANADOR de esa noche, tanto en el PERFORMANCE para su público, como en el trato a los fans y medios presentes BACKSTAGE - bueno como que 3 de sus integrantes atendieron con todo el gusto del mundo al otro medio para el cual este servidor labora, "ROCK SPOT PLUS" ( http://www.rockspotpr.com/rockspot.html )….
FEAR FACTORY....Coincido con los 2 colegas….y el rapport entre banda y público con Fear no fue como el de Soulfly - esto, apesar de que el vocalista Burton C. Bell interactuó un poco más con los asistentes que Max, pero Fear no tenía SEPULTURA COVERS para disparar.
Ya me preocupa el día que traigan LINKIN PARK a Puerto Rico y Chester Bennington llegue de un show la noche anterior, con apenas poco descanso….
NO OBSTANTE, el repertorio de FF fue bien variado y they still rocked.....SOBRE EL PRENDERLE LAS LUCES....Que puedo decir?....NO ES COMO QUE BAJARÍAN GIGANTESCAS BOLAS NEGRAS DEL TECHO DEL COLISEO, y lo siento por cualquier obligación contractual por parte de la producción con el MUNICIPIO DE SAN JUAN, PERO LA FORMA EN QUE OCURRIÓ ESTO - el prender las luces CON FEAR FACTORY TODAVÍA TOCANDO - fue sencíllamente FALTARLE EL RESPETO a una banda que pudo haberse ido con un set más corto debído al issue con BURTON C. BELL, por lo que sea que aquejaba a Dino Cazares o porque no estaban de buen mood ( Yeah, no concedieron entrevistas ) o cualquier problema técnico etc. PERO NO, ELLOS QUISIERON TOCAR EL RESTO DE ESE SET, o por lo menos EL PLAN ERA tocarlo en su totalidad como lo habían hecho - por lo menos hasta que el municipio de San Juan decidió que no éramos lo suficiente WORTHY para escuchar "PISSCHRIST" o "REPLICA"…
También decepcionó el poco apoyo a las bandas de apertura LOCALES - o por lo menos, a ALAS NEGRAS ( a medida que pasó la noche la audiencia fué aumentando con ZAFAKON y DEATH ARRANGEMENT ) - ya sea porque muchos prefirieron quedarse bebiendo afuera o en el caso de los ROCKEROS DE COLISEO ( Roberto Clemente o Jose Miguel Agrelot ), CALCULARON que podían llegar como a eso de las 9:00 P.M. con tal de no chuparse las bandas de apertura…
What shame, PORQUE ALAS, ZAFAKON y en particular DEATH ARRANGEMENT le metieron...DIGO, SI LOS SONIDISTAS se portaran mejor con los actos de apertura, serían otros 20 PESOS, pero bueno HASTA PUYA se tuvo que jøD3R con SONIDO MALO en el Clemente antes de G N´R way back en ABRIL / 10….
Lo más triste es que - mirando hacia atrás - pienso en el incidente de las luces y....no se ustedes, pero no solo se le faltó el respeto a FEAR FACTORY, se le faltó el respeto a nosotros los rockeros que estuvimos allí....really...Llegué en un momento dado a pensar que el COLISEO...básicamente nos dijo..."VAYANSE...NO NOS INTERESA SU PRESENCIA AQUÍ"....Me hubiera gustado saber que habría pasado...si se lo hubiesen hecho a AXL ROSE...

El show estuvo hijo de puta btw nice review guys. Entiendo que lo de prender las luces estuvo mal pero hubieron varios factores los cuales podian hacer que esto no sucediera. A mi no me molestaria para nada ver a Fear Factory por mas de una hora (tiempo que productor dijo que fue lo que acordaron) si ellos quisieron tocar mas coño que tiene de malo, la gente pago por ello. Entiendo que si cortaban 1 banda local y no puede pasar por desapercibido el cover malisimo de Pantera sobraba tiempo para poder escuchar un set completo de Fear Factory. Yo como fan me siento ofendido el que les prendieran las luces en fucking Zero Signal y mucho menos no haber escuchado Replica. My two cents y espero esto no afecte futuras presentaciones de este calibre en la isla. Productores aprendan de sus errores y mucho éxito. Saludos.

Zafakon la banda local de la noche Respect !
ReplyDeleteYo quiero decir que si 3 bandas locales van a abrir un main event como Soulfly y Fear Factory que toquen pocas canciones con eso es suficiente para que la gente se los disfrute y más que Zafakon y Death Arrangement ya son conocidas por la fanaticada local. De lo contrario que solamente escogan una sola banda local para abrir un main event por que en realidad mi opinión Soulfly y Fear Factory empezaron demasiado de tarde a tocar y el público estaba cansado de esperar. Hablando de lo bueno Soulfly tuvieron una presentación brutal tocaron canciones de Sepultura y estaban super heavy. Fear Factory tuvieron problemas de sonido al principio, pero luego siguieron tocando normal y su presentación me la disfrute y tocaron muchas canciones de los discos que a mi me gustan especialmente Demanufacture. Me dio un coraje brutal cuando prendieron las luces del coliseo eso es tremenda falta de profesionalismo y si el acuerdo fue por cierta cantidad de tiempo con notificarselo al manejador es suficiciente y no tenian que hacer esa cafreria. Mi review final todo el evento se disfruto, pero estuvo mal organizado y hay espacio para mejorar yo tengo fe en que Fear Factory pueda volver y hacer una presentación de calidad.
ReplyDeleteWell Anonymous I highly doubt Fear Factory will return after the BULLSHIT that they pulled on them by turning on the house lights.. you can see in my video which i have faith that will be posted later Burton give the cut it sign and looks rather disgusted with the fact that this is an insult to any band in crude.. it means "GET THE FUCK OUT..YOUR DONE HERE!" And that's something you really don't do to any band unless its reggaeton, and the reason why they turn on the lights is cause a fight broke out or someone got killed.. That's the bottom line.

Larga la espera, nos impacientamos, para ver nuestras bandas favoritas y MALA ORGANIZACION con la cantidad de bandas y el tiempo dado a las bandas locales que las podemos ver por $5 o quizas hasta gratis en barras por ahi. Gran falta de respeto a los asistentes al prender las luces antes de que Fear Factory terminara. Lo demas por parte del show Soulfly y Fear Factory muy brutal y tremendo mosh pit.

ReplyDeleteZAFACON was good.. but for some reason the band the surprized the living piss outta me was DEATH ARRANGEMENT,Perhaps it is due to the fact that I have heard ZAFACON and never hear DEATH ARRANGEMENT..DAMARIS has a hell of a voice!

That's very true METALALEX...there were all sorts of sound problems that evening and in thus..FF did not have all the cards needed to win that poker game.. and was very unjust but you know what even with odds against them.. they played on no matter what. And that shows the true caliber of that band because such artist such as AXLE ROSE would of had just BITCHED himself offstage because X or Y reason was not to his taste. But BURTON and the BOYS went on with the show which really impressed me as a fan and as a writer.
ReplyDeleteSin contar el hecho de q ff fue kareoki no los ayudo q la unica persona en vivi fue el cantante varios de nosotros nos fuimos cuando fuimos al side stage y vimos q el baterista nuevo no le daba a el doble bongo... En otra ocasion se vio al
ReplyDeleteguitarrista posando para una foto cuando la musica sono y el no estaba tocando y por ultimo el bajista hizo un cambio de bajo y no ubo diferencia en la musica... Para ser la primera vez fue decepcionante pero soulfly la monto bien kbron

ReplyDeleteEl sonido fue pesimo con predominancia de las frequencias bajas que hacia poco comprensible parte de las interpretaciones,Soulfly,primero Max ya no sabe tocar nada de guitarra,sus dias como guitarrista ya son cosas del pasado,se ahoga cantando y parece un zombie,fallaron todos los musicos notas en las canciones,cruzadas,cambios de tiempo,etc.,como fanatico de ellos y musico me decepcionaron terriblemente,si la gente lo que queria era ruido y alguien invitandolos a saltar y moshear en todo en eso se resumia su set...las bandas locales estuvieron muy superiores...Fear factory gozo de un sonido de mayor calidad que Soulfly y una mejor interpretacion musical,mas alla de los problemas tecnicos del principio,pero para los gustos los colores
