S10 // SHADOWS FALL IN P.R. CONCERT REVIEW...

"AND THE SHADOWS FELL..."

( E-10 ):  THIS PART IN FULL ENGLISH - To say that Massachusetts very own, SHADOWS FALL executed a very good show....would be stating the obvious...cause make no mistake, vocalist Brian Fair ( in pic above ), guitarrists Jonathan Donais, Matt Bachand, bassist Paul Romanko and drummer Jason Bittner came to Puerto Rico for the second time around ( more on that later ) for a performance at La Respuesta in Santurce, to deliver a full - front assault for their audience.....and that´s what they did.  But before I express the rest of my thoughts and in spanish for the P.R. audience, Hunter and a recap....
     ( HUNTER ):  Hay conciertos donde uno se aburre o donde sinceramente no hay energía durante concierto entero, pero también hay sus conciertos como el que presencié la noche de 27 ABRIL que son pura ENERGÍA Y ADRENALINA de comienzo a final, lo que fue el caso de la presentación de la banda de Massachusetts Shadows Fall, quienes dejaron todo en la tarima inclusive, casi un dreadlock de su cantante Brian Fair.  La banda tocó un set de aproximádamente 80 minutos en el cual interpretaron un repertorio que vá desde sus discos más viejos hasta su producción del 2012 "Fire In The Sky".

 La banda comenzó aproximadamente a las 10:05 P.M. con el tema "The Light That Blinds" seguido del tema "The Idiot Box" de su disco "The Art Of Balance"....El tercer tema que tocaron fue de la préviamente mencionada "Fire..." y es una de mis canciones favoritas de ese disco "Weight Of The World".....Luego de la 4ta o 5ta canción - "King Of Nothing" y "The Power Of I and I" respectívamente - el propio Fair se tiró hacia el público y por un momento este servidor temió que el también graduado de Boston University se fuera a lesionar ya que parecía que parte de sus dreadlocks se podrían enredar entre la concurrencia en el mosh pit.

 Tras la interpretación del tema "Casting Shade", "Fire In The Sky" vuelve a primer plano con la interpretación del tema "The Unknown" en el cual Fair pidió que se formara un circle pit ( a lo old - school ) y el público hizo caso a estas ordenes.  Luego tocaron un tema de su segundo disco - el primero con Fair como vocalista - que fue "Of One Blood"....y a eso le siguió el tema "Still I Rise" de su álbum "Retribution"....

 Dato curioso sobre el próximo tema:  Fair dijo que no lo había tocado en vivo hace mucho y que si salía mal era culpa de uno de los guitarristas o "THAT GUY" y la canción fue "Nothing Remains"....Luego la banda tocó un cover - a tono con las referencias líricas de la cultura Rastafari que caracteriza la banda - un tema que a mí me encanta porque es el clásico del legendario Bob Marley:  "WAR" y dirigiéndose al público previo a esa canción, Brian Fair dijo que mientras no nos tratemos con igualdad, amor y respeto siempre habrá war y así dando paso al cover más trash metal de un clásico de REGGAE y lo increíble es que no parece un cover.  Luego tocaron los temas : "The Great Collapse", "Thoughts Without Words" seguido de lo que ellos catalogaron un como un drinking song lo que fué el super corto y agresivo "Destroyer Of The Senses"....

 "What Drives The Weak" fue anunciada como la última canción de la noche, pero el publico pidió una más y complacieron a los presentes con el tema "Inspiration On Demand" - tema para el cual ellos grabaron un video en Puerto Rico en el 2004....En fín el show me dejó muy satisfecho y también no se me puede olvidar mencionar que la banda de apertura Omnifariam tocaron un buen set.

 ( E-10 ):  ( Back to english ) What´s more important than the fact that the show was good display of energy...is the fact that this show WAS A VERY LOGICAL ONE, A NO - BRAINER IN FACT which has reminded us ( as well as other promoters ) of many well - known bands either from the 80´s, the late 90´s or the 1rst decade of the 21st century which we have yet to see perform in a P.R. venue and quite frankly are long overdue - KILLSWITCH ENGAGE could easily come into mind and speaking of KSE, Brian...IF YOU´RE READING, please tell ADAM ( Dutkiewicz ) that his band should get over here....cause like you saw for yourself...THEY WILL DEFINITELY ENJOY THE PUERTO RICO AUDIENCE....and speaking of which, S10 intercepted vocalist Brian Fair after the show and briefly talked about that time back in 2004 when SF actually CAME TO P.R. to film the "Inspiration On Demand" video and turns out...They apparently had a scheduled performance back then, but let Brian do the explaining as well as give a brief reaction to the BOSTON BOMBINGS ( APRIL 15 / 13 )...
