Half a score and 3 years ago, a writer by the name of Doris Kearns Goodwin brought forth on this continent a new BOOK, conceived in liberty, and LATER TURNED into a movie by Steven Spielberg who would be dedicated to the accurate portrayal of ABRAHAM LINCOLN, his life and the proposition that all men are created equal. Now we are presented with a great TRAILER of that Thanksgiving / holiday box office war, testing whether that nation of cinephiles, or any nation, so conceived and so dedicated, can long endure. We will meet on those great cinema complexes of that war. We will go to dedicate a portion of that field, as a final resting place for those popcorn bites who will give their lives while that that nation might or not be awed by DANIEL DAY LEWIS's portrayal of the great 5 DOLLAR BILL PRESIDENT.
It is altogether fitting and proper that AFTER THIS IMPRESSIVE TRAILER, we should watch this. But, in a larger sense, we can not dedicate, we can not consecrate, we can not hallow this ground. The brave men and women of that cast and crew, living and dead, who filmed this epic in Virgina, have poured their hearts to it, far above our poor power to add or detract. The world, once inside those theaters, WILL NO LONGER NOTE, nor long remember ANY VAMPIRE PRESCENCE or whatever was said on THAT OTHER LINCOLN FILM while being inmersed watching this one, but they can never forget THE $97, 848, 844 the HUNTER OF THE UNDEAD version did worldwide. It is for us the living, rather, to be dedicated here to this NEW piece of work for which SPIELBERG fought to bring here to have us so nobly entertained. It is rather for us to be here dedicated to the great task of watching the biopic when placed before us—that from the portrayal of the end of the CIVIL WAR and the ABOLITION OF SLAVERY we express increased admiration to that film for which we give the last full measure of our hard earned money — that we here highly resolve that the DIRECTOR, CAST AND CREW shall not have WORKED THEIR ASSES OFF in vain — that this movie, under God, shall have a few potencial ACADEMY AWARD NOMINATIONS — and that movie of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.
